Abstract:Through the Fang Village project in Liyang, this study explores a novel approach to contemporary rural construction, addressing key issues within this domain. Situating Fang Village within its broader discourse, the study first examines its contextual background and the specific conditions that shape its approach. It then delves into the architectural approach in the Fang Village project, including the three steps of the cognition of structure, the collage of elements, and the formation of places, and connects them to the context of Fang Village to summaries the overarching approach. Furthermore, the study explores the theoretical value of this approach and its possible development in relation to the theory of“the savage mind”and the“collage city”theory, which is influenced by the former. In the present-day context, the approach of Fang Village and the discussions surrounding it may provide a paradigm thinking for contemporary Chinese rural construction.
