Abstract:Tracing back the mapping and research of cliff tombs in Southwest China since modern times, explaining how cliff tomb research, as an academic tradition, has been established and inherited in Chongqing University, focusing on how Chongqing University adopts modern mapping technologies such as 3D laser scanning to map cliff tombs, which is a special type of building, and concentrating on three points: what are the characteristics of cliff tombs mapping compared with that of above-ground buildings; how to combine 3D laser scanning technology with the indoor light source for image acquisition in the absence of natural light in the tomb; What spatial information of research value can be recorded by digital mapping means in comparison with published archaeological mapping maps, and finally discusses the importance of cliff tomb mapping for the study of Han Dynasty architectural history.
