Abstract:To address the challenges posed by the aging population in China, it is the common goal of society to build intelligent, convenient, and secure living environments for senior citizens. Although stairs constitute a crucial architectural feature in residential spaces, for the elderly who carry items while going up and down the stairs, it brings inconvenience. This study endeavors to conceptualize and implement an affordable, lightweight walking assistive robotic system. The system transforms stair railings into tracks to optimize space and facilitate the transportation of everyday items for the elderly. It incorporates sensors and assistive bars to reduce lower limb strain, enhancing safety for seniors with limited mobility during stair navigation. The effectiveness of this innovative approach has been confirmed through prototype testing.
