Abstract:The paper starts with the Le Corbusier’s Towards a New Architecture and explores the development of architecture as “the mirror of times”, and the transformation of the new scientific discipline of the human settlement environment featuring the collaborative symbiosis of “human, machine, and physical environment” in the contemporary era. It analyzes the inevitability of the paradigm shift in architecture from three aspects: ontology, epistemology, and methodology, and attempts to propose a reconstruction path for the modern scientific system of the human settlement environment with the collaboration of “human, machine, and physical environment” as the core. Based on the driving force of crises and the traction of innovation, it discusses how disaster resilience and emerging technologies drive architecture to shift from the creation of traditional physical spaces to the systematic construction and connection of infrastructure, from embodied cognition to interaction with intelligent systems, data streams, and the environment. It also explores the value reconstruction and paradigm shift in design, providing new ideas and directions for the scientific development of the human settlement environment in the future.
