Abstract:In the discourse of Western architectural history, where great architecture is positioned as the absolute core, the Renaissance holds an important position. At the same time, the Renaissance also contains the seeds that subvert this architectural fetishism—images. They are created by artists (or architects), conveying forward-thinking ideas, visions, personal ambitions, and collective wisdom. While they are born alongside the architecture, they become independent entities. The analysis of these images challenges our common understanding of the masterpieces by these masters and the universal value standards that constitute architectural history. Through illustrative analysis, the history of Renaissance architecture is revealed not as a stable and reliable aesthetic monument, but as a vast and dynamic historical phenomenon.
