Interview with Professor Peng Zhongren on the Challenges and Opportunities for Architecture and Planning Education and the Construction Industry in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
Abstract：After three to four decades of rapid urban construction in China, the industry is now experiencing a significant shift from its peak to a trough. This transition is marked by a decline in the demand for construction personnel and a reduction in investment needs. The future development of the industry and its related disciplines has reached a critical crossroads. This article presents an interview with Professor Peng Zhongren of the University of Florida. It explores how to rationally understand the development cycle and trend predictions of the construction industry, the integration of AI and the industry, and innovations in education within the architecture, planning and construction education system. It aims to provide insights for the development of China’s urban and rural construction industry and education.
