Abstract:Residential areas in urban contexts are integral to children's growth and development, but such spaces are still confronted with many challenges. The continuing decline in birth rates has exacerbated the pre-existing contradiction between the availability of urban space and the need to create child-friendly areas. This article presents a case study of Shanghai Quyang Village, employing architectural programming techniques and on-site surveys. It aims to discuss the complexities and obstacles in the design of child-friendly residential areas and systematically identify the key issues that impede the establishment of child-friendly neighborhoods in Shanghai. Through careful analysis of these problems, the article offers corresponding solutions as a valuable reference for the construction of child-friendly urban settlements.
