Abstract：Through extensive on-site surveys, operator interviews and program comparison of similar projects, and the environmental improvement project of the National Tennis Center, a post-occupancy evaluation was carried out from three aspects: site, building and special items. Based on the problems found in the post-evaluation regarding function, spatial performance, landscape etc., the design brief was done accordingly. The renovation design then could be done following the instructions of the brief. Through the holistic process of accurate diagnosis, architectural programming and integrated design, the renovation of existing large-scale public facilities could be completed to meet the needs of sustainable operation in the context of high quality urban renewal.
