Abstract:Based on the definition, the subject categories and specialty settings of universities, this paper expounds the relationship between discipline and specialty. By reviewing the development process of architecture at home and abroad, it explains the attributes, categories, knowledge bases and research objectives of architecture, and the main research contents of contemporary architecture are to formulate, revise and upgrade architectural design standards and codes in line with social progress. Finally, according to the needs of the urban and rural development, it analyzes the challenges of architecture, and discusses the reformation of architectural education in the new era from the aspects of shortening the length of undergraduate education, abolishing duplicate professional degrees, and setting up professional doctoral degrees.
