Abstract:Recent advances in digital architectural practice and research have brought new questions regarding the convergence of design requirements, material tectonics and data strings. The importance of such a discourse encourages this paper to investigate qualitative design problems through the scope of fuzzy logic, which converts linguistic variables and human’s subjective judgment into mathematical meanings in order to assist design decisions. The feasibility of this proposed idea is illustrated through a non-standard bending-active gridshell design with Mamdani fuzzy logic.
