Abstract:As a multicultural region, the Northeast region has formed the traditional folk dwellings of the Northeast under its unique natural, historical, and humanistic environment. To better inherit and protect the dwellings of the Northeast, the research team of Harbin Institute of Technology has been analyzing the dwelling patterns of the Northeast from four aspects: interdisciplinary research direction, multi-ethnic research object, practical research application, and point-and-line research trend, to excavate the external material representations of traditional dwellings in the Northeast and their internal reasons for formation, and to summarize the mechanism of the interaction and influence of the research on dwelling patterns. This paper collates the research results of residential morphology in Northeast China in recent years and explores the development mode of traditional settlements and their protection strategies and principles by summarizing, comparing, and analyzing them, so as to enrich the breadth and depth of the research on settlements and residential morphology in Northeast China and provide a reference for the modern development and practice of traditional residential morphology in the Northeast.
