Abstract：The early buildings in Wuhan University are important representative architectural works in modern universities in China. As one of the construction engineers in Wuhan University, Enzhao Miao acted as the Chinese representative who played a very important role in the process of the campus construction. However, there is almost no academic research on him. In order to rediscover the architectural design thoughts of Enzhao Miao, the author has made textual research
of his lifetime and analyzed his architectural practices based on relevant documentations collected from Archives of Wuhan University and Archives of Hubei Province. This will be helpful for the understanding of the theory and practice of the first generation of Chinese architects in the 1930s in exploring the combination of national form and modern architecture.
