Protection and Renewal of Traditional Village Cultural Landscapes from the Perspective of Local Knowledge: A Case Study of Majiagou Village in Xianfeng County, Enshi Prefecture
Abstract：Local knowledge represents the intrinsic value of traditional village cultural landscapes. The potential for leveraging local knowledge in the protection and utilization of these landscapes is immense. However, there is currently a lack of effective, systematic framework and technical approach for applying local knowledge in this context. This paper attempts to construct a framework for the application of local knowledge in the protection and utilization of traditional village cultural landscapes. First, it clarifies the isomorphic relationship between local knowledge and traditional village cultural landscapes. Second, it proposes a systematic technical way of “local knowledge extraction - local knowledge evaluation - local knowledge application”. Finally, it employs the empirical case of Majiagou Village as a proof of concept. Through this case study, the feasibility of the technical way is verified, and three models for the protection and utilization of traditional village cultural landscapes based on local knowledge are proposed.
