The Analysis of the Liju Map of Traditional Villages from the Perspective of the Schema Language: A Case Study on Yulian Village in Mingxi County, Fujian Province
Abstract:To address the problem of destruction and loss of the original public space system in the current traditional villages in the process of temporal development and succession, it is possible to infer and restore the patterns of early traditional villages and their spatial organization information through the research of Liju map. Based on the discrimination of the authenticity of the information recorded in the Liju map, it introduces the concept of schema language and the Liju map is taken as a cognitive method. Taking the Liju map recorded in Yulian Village, Xiayang Township, Mingxi County, Sanming City as an example, it analyzes the linguistic features of its schematic representation, namely, the“homotypic variation”of spatial element symbols, the topological consistency of spatial representation levels, the order and perceptibility of spatial paths, and the recursive nature of spatial structure growth. The schematic language is used as a regular representation way of both reality and imagination to explain the complexity of the traditional village public space system with the cognitive structure of schema and the representational structure of language.
