Abstract:Based on VR technology, this study provides visualized information revealing characteristics of people’s locomotion, head direction, and gaze behavior when exploring complex urban space in traditional Chinese villages. From cognitive perspective, the research provides an in-depth explanation of spatial rules in traditional villages. It also leads to a discussion about the bi-directional impact between the villages’space and spatial cognition and behavior. The research will contribute to a revisit of the value of traditional villages, and provide theoretical support to practical development of urban and architectural space.
