Abstract：Based on the Pattern Language methodology, the paper aims to construct the public space pattern language system of Youyang stream type traditional villages by obtaining basic elements such as characters, words and phrases of different scales, and analyze the grammatical relationship between its various scale elements through combination of the geographical conditions and human history of the village. It further analyzes the adaptive construction logic of the public space of traditional villages: the mutual interaction of spaces among production, living and ecology, the blending of space and scenery, and the three-dimensional and multidimensional neighborhood nodes. Through methods of intact elements expression, traffic system connection and ritual setting, it aims to contribute to the protection and development of the public space of traditional villages.
