Forward Design Method for Fire Protection in Progressive Regeneration of Historic Districts: A Case Study on the Fire Protection Design of Zhuxi Ancient Town in Yancheng
Abstract:In recent years, the model of protecting and implementing incremental regeneration for historical districts in China has been widely recognized, but existing concepts and methods for fire protection design are difficult to adapt to new changes. Based on practical experience in fire safety design for Zhuxi ancient town in Yancheng, this article makes a dialectical consideration on strengthening the holistic awareness and knowledge integration for solving fire safety challenges under the complex conditions of historical districts. A Forward Design method is proposed, which encompasses multidisciplinary assessment, multi-level architecture, cross disciplinary process, and multi-role collaboration, in order to explore the four dimensions of fire safety system during the incremental regeneration.
