Abstract:The coupling between villagers’fire-related behavior and living space is the key cause of frequent fires in traditional wooden dwellings. Based on the theory of three elements of fire, through fire cases statistics and field investigation, this paper explores the track crossover law of fire-related behavior and living space, and identifies three types of“behavior-space”coupling modes: behavior-oriented, spatial-oriented, and risk-motivated. The causes of fire are as follows: improper use of mobile fire sources; high fire frequency in spaces with low fire resistance; systematic structural space risks triggered by illegal electricity use. Accordingly, fire prevention strategies for traditional wooden dwellings are proposed: enhancing the fire resistance of spaces through fire source encapsulation and its surrounding flame retardant, curbing undesirable habits through fire science popularization and joint prevention among multiple households, mitigating disaster risks through virtual and solid isolation and strengthening physical defense measures.
