Abstract:The protection of façade form of historic building is a very important goal for historic district conservation. The aim of this research is to distinguish the difference of facade form in terms of window distribution by using quantitative analysis. Based on the recognition experiment, the main features of window form can be summarized in three ways, which are degree of void, degree of density and degree of uniformity. These features can be expressed by six parameters. In the case study of Paris Plaza and Covent Garden, this paper analyses the window form by applying the six parameters and investigates the difference of façade form of these historic districts.
