Abstract:In the Leizhou coastal ocean field area, known as “the third largest water conservancy hub in Guangdong”, a comprehensive water conservancy system has been built integrating flood control, moisture resistance and irrigation after successive water conservancy development and reclamation, and on this basis a unique traditional settlement landscape nurtured. From the perspective of water conservancy development, the development process of water conservancy and the structure of water conservancy system in the coastal ocean field area are investigated through time and space, and divided into three development stages and four functional structural units. Further, it analyzes the spatial distribution of macro-scale settlements, the landscape pattern of mesoscale settlements and the landscape characteristics of micro-settlements from multiple scales. Finally, it reveals the formation mechanism of the traditional settlement landscape in the coastal field area from the interaction between human, land and sea, which provides theoretical references for the protection and development of traditional settlements in the region.
