Abstract:This research begins with the sun-shading measures of the vernacular dwelling envelop, as well as the ventilation strategy and water resource utilization of the settlement, then discusses the climate adaptability of vernacular dwellings and the relationship between vernacular architectural form and local production and living activities through the application of building energy consumption software to simulate the settlements and the single building environment. In order to avoid constructive damage and enhance the regional identification, the research, based on the simulation and related analysis, summarizes the construction wisdom from these traditional settlements and vernacular dwellings, and puts forward the ecological adaptability strategy for the new rural reconstruction and rural settlement sustainable development in the Lingnan area.
