Abstract:As the carrier of social behavior and material environment, the public space of traditional settlements is an important place for community ritual activities. This paper presents the process of lantern parade, extracts the elements of public space, focuses on the expression of interfacial configuration, path sequence and belief center in the ritual settings, and explores the interactive mechanism between ritual behavior and public space. It aims to reexamine the public space of traditional settlements with the clue of “ritual and space”, and expand the comprehensive cognition of settlement space with the superposition analysis of material culture and non-material culture, so as to contribute to the organic renewal of settlement public space and the sustainable development of cultural heritage under the background of rural revitalization.
