Abstract：Given that China has the largest population and construction scale in the world, it should develop its own unique logic and expression of architectural culture. The “Architectural Criticism” course of the School of Urban Design of Wuhan University takes this premise as its starting point. It focuses on the ubiquitous architectural and spatial phenomena in daily life to analyze the driving forces behind China’s local architectural cultural production. The course employs a teaching method that pays equal attention to tools and case analysis, training students’ observation and critical thinking skills. This approach addresses the long-standing issues of “where to look” and “how to look” in the daily life observation of architecture and space. Ultimately, it helps students gain a deeper understanding of the intricate relationships between architectural space and human society.
