The Shing Mun River waterfront of Sha Tin in Hong Kong looks ordinary, but it is actually an attractive urban place with colorful urban life. This paper analyzes it from the perspective of local residents, and reveals some invisible construction logic behind the built form, such as the “layered and diversified space with clear boundary”, “seamless connection and convenient accessibility”, “linking scattered dots into comprehensive lines”, and “people-centered living place”. These principles lead the design back to the everyday life and local places, thus endowing public spaces with everlasting vitality.
