Abstract:Structural underpinning can effectively reduce the amount of building transformation and is one of the effective measures for refinement, lightweight and low-carbon development. The synergy between the structural underpinning technology and the spatial design objectives demands the guidance of an interdisciplinary methodology. This article summarizes the types of underpinning technology and the design strategies of underpinned space from a morphological perspective and finally validates the design methodology in some of the building transformation projects in Xiaoxihu, Nanjing, providing theoretical foundations and empirical references for synergistic application of underpinning technology and spatial transformation design.
