Abstract:This paper presents a multipurpose, high performance, lightweight, prefabricated steel structure building system, which is designed, developed and constructed by Southeast University School of Architecture and their collaborative team. The building design is based on classification and assembling method of architectural components, which results in maximized space utilization and extensive building performance control. Southeast University School of Architecture collaborated with several manufacture and construction companies during the design, research, manufacture and construction process of the building. With these effective collaborations, the team is able to design the building as a product (building-product-model) by combining design and research, building components manufacture and assembly, and performance maintenance together. Building-product-model is a new type of architecture. The application and market development of this model adapt to the local culture and environmental characteristics and focus on achieving steady performance objectives. At the same time, it promotes a healthy transformation of building construction industry in the urban and rural area.Meanwhile, it provides opportunities to train professionals that utilize this new type of architecture that supports sustainable urban and rural area developments.
