Abstract:Over the past two decades, the King’s Cross in London has transformed from a run-down historic industrial district to a global cultural, commercial and artistic centre in London, and has become an excellent example of historical urban environmental renewal. This article highlights the new building, the Coal Drops Yard, built in the neighborhood, and analyzes how Thomas Heatherwick, an innovative architectural form and language, renews a Victorian traditional railway building. It re-energizes and evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of the building renewal program, which would hopefully provide inspiration and reference for similar projects in China.
