Abstract：Although more and more attention has been paid on the problem of rural elderly care, the architectural design of rural elderly facilities is still lack of regulations and pertinence. This paper takes the rural elderly as an independent research object, with its physical characteristics and corresponding demands as the basis for the architectural design. A traditional agricultural village in north Zhejiang province was selected for the investigation,in which the elderly would be subjected to ability assessment, along with the use of five scale measurement and statistical methods. It aims to reveal the characteristics of the elderly demand and the corresponding space patterns, and explore the effective use and planning of rural elderly facilities.
