Abstract：Community greenways play an important role in promoting the health of the elderly by using green space near their place of residence, but the research on the adaptability and healing of community greenways is still insufficient. In this study, the elderly in four community greenways in the old city of Hangzhou were investigated by questionnaire and picture comparison, and the relationship between the spatial characteristics of greenways, the perception of outdoor activities of the elderly and the preference of community greenways was discussed. The results show that: (1) The proportion of population density near community greenways is positively correlated with the preference of the elderly for community greenways; (2) The elderly have a high perception of space security elements, but a low perception of greenway sign system and intelligent facilities; (3) Old people’s perception of greenway will affect their preference and actual use, especially in terms of space security factors such as lighting facilities and social space.
