Abstract:As an important activity place, the street affects the occurrence frequency and distribution pattern of walking trips among the elderly. From the perspective of feasible ability, this study selects three dimensions from the outside of the residential area, the residential area itself, and the interior of the residential area, covering street accessibility, street profile scale and walking safety respectively. With the survey data of the activity ability of the elderly, it then explores associations between street walkability and activity levels. It finds that street accessibility is positively related to physical exercise and leisure and social activities; appropriate street profile scale has a promoting effect on leisure and social activities; and improving pedestrian safety is helpful for daily activities. Based on this, it puts forward environmental optimization suggestions to meet the needs of the elderly.
