Abstract：Currently, there is a rapid acceleration of urbanization construction in China, particularly focusing on counties as crucial foundations. As a result, corresponding actions for county community renewal have been implemented. The unique nature of county community renewal sets it apart from urban community renewal, characterized by its multi-objective integration, problem-oriented integration, and spatial relationship integration. In the present study, through the case of the Youjiang community in the old town of Gongan of Hubei province, we investigate and classify the congruity and disparity between county and community-level renewal needs. By adopting a localization and linkage approach, we formulate a comprehensive strategy for county community renewal, along with a hierarchical transfer pathway for resolving key issues. Furthermore, it proposes the comprehensive regeneration concept of“starting, bearing, turning and merging”and introduces the“5+X”model for community renewal. These theoretical frameworks are then practically applied to the Youjiang community, with the aim of stimulating further contemplation on county community renewal and promoting theoretical and practical research in this domain.
