Abstract:The commercial corridor is a kind of commercial space along different traffic infrastructure. After the WW II, increased suburbanisation contributed to the decay and demise of many main inner-city commercial streets in the U.S. and the commercial corridor replaced the main streets to be the focus of community renewal. Barriers between stakeholders of commercial corridors often led to imbalance of urban planning, weak construction of public environment and poor management of shop space. In order to solve these problems, the third sector–Community Development Corporation (CDC) and Business Improvement District (BID)–was established in U.S. communities. As multi-governance organizations of commercial corridor, CDC and BID cooperated with local residents, companies, specialist agencies and government sections to promote the sustainable renewal of commercial corridors in the community together with the power of a triple organizational structure.
