Abstract：The use of thematic propositions has gradually become a common practice among Chinese architectural journals. Focusing on the phenomenon, the paper takes New Architecture since the turn of the millennium as its primary case study. By examining the evolution of the journal’s article organization methods, it analyzes the mechanisms and fundamental characteristics of architectural issues, while revealing the knowledge structure shaped by thematic studies centered around events, projects, and long-term issues. Drawing on observations of the“themed”and“non-themed”approaches in certain English-language journals, the study explores the constructive significance and limitations of thematic propositions for the development of architectural knowledge.
