Abstract：China’s population structure is characterized by accelerated aging, and increased number of special aging groups, resulting in a series of difficult issues. This article puts forward that according to the 13th Five-Year planning proposals, we could try to establish a new aged service model with Chinese characteristics in three aspects: the establishment of “9073” aged service system, the improvement of the combination of medical care with maintenance whilst exploring long term nursing insurance, and the integration of resources into the aged service industry. Based on this and according to the health and behavior characteristics of the aged, The article illustrates several feasible strategies for creating high quality living spaces suitable for the aged with planning, arch itecture, and landscape practices. It is intended to promote the development of architecture suitable for the aged in China, and effectively alleviate the increasingly heavy pressure of social aged services.
