Abstract:Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) is a feasible solution for meeting the increasing demand for high performance buildings due to its efficiency and flexible construction properties. Timber Modular Integrated Construction (Timber-MiC), an innovative construction method, combines the low carbon, sustainable and versatile material benefits of wood with the advantages of modular construction to achieve rapid construction and flexible layouts. This paper focuses on Timber-MiC. By using existing literature and conducting comparative studies both in China and internationally, it demonstrates the characteristics of Timber-MiC. Through typical case studies, it further explores research trends, emphasizes the innovative approaches adopted by architects and engineers in the modern timber modular integrated building design strategy and construction technology, and offers insights to promote the in-depth practice of Timber-MiC.
