Abstract:In the context of building industrialization, the “design-manufacture-construction” process is more integrated in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. But the traditional knowledge of architecture has yet to be aligned with the fields of engineering and manufacturing. When adapting to the new prefabricated design and construction methods, architects' knowledge system lacks experience in construction control, resulting in the difficulty to ensure the building quality. In view of this situation, this paper discusses the topic of “error”, its evolution in the history of technology and its development differences between the fields of manufacturing and AEC, questioning the absence of error theory in the architectural field. As the error theory widely used in manufacturing and other fields is integrated into architectural design, a mechanism is preliminarily conceived with the prediction, detection and control of architectural errors with the technological methods of information-physical interactions, providing a theoretical model and technical process for improving the quality of prefabricated buildings.
