Abstract:Innovative talent development has become the focal point of competition among nations today, with countries adjusting their educational models to meet the needs of talent cultivation. Underpinning the ideals of promoting deep and active learning, the practice and research of teaching activities and corresponding supportive learning environments have gradually gained significant attention. This paper comprehensively reviews the research findings on new types of learning spaces in international basic education over the past 20 years, with a particular focus on how these spaces impact learning experiences and outcomes. It delves into the crucial spatial variables that support active learning and deep learning. Finally, by integrating evidence-based research outcomes, it provides foreign insights for the current renovation and design of basic education infrastructure in China.
