Abstract:Round doors and windows are typical forms of language and symbolic symbols in traditional Chinese architecture, which can be seen everywhere and even become rampant. However, there is no consensus on when, how, and what the significance of the“Chinese style”of this round motif originated. By reviewing historical literature and relevant scholars’discussions, combined with specific cases such as traditional modeling, traditional painting, and traditional garden architecture, this article attempts to clarify the development origin, formal characteristics, and spatial and cultural significance of round doors and windows in traditional Chinese architecture.
