Abstract:The use of street view images for large-scale studies of emotional perception in urban spaces is becoming popular. However, the lack of consideration of climatic conditions and the subjectivity of perception data have affected the accuracy of existing findings. In this study, we used winter street view images and laboratory climate conditions to simulate and restore the winter environment of a cold region city, and used physiological monitoring and human-computer confrontation to obtain subjective and objective emotion perception scores, in order to explore the mechanism of the winter street space’s influence on emotion perception, and the correlation between subjective and objective emotion perception ratings. The experimental results show that all six environmental indicators are strongly correlated with subjective emotional perception, and four of them are significantly correlated with objective emotion perception, while most of the subjective and objective emotion perceptions show significant correlation. The findings provide methodological and empirical support for optimizing spatial environments in cold-region cities.
