Abstract：Historical context is not only a continuous background involving particular society, history, culture and time, which forms the spatial environment, but also a relevant guidance influencing architectural design and urban growth. In the renewal program of the northern part of Ningbo Old Bund, with the “archetype-analogy” typology method, this paper recognizes and restores the spatial texture of streets, blocks and buildings based on the skeleton of historical development and the cultural types. It aims to realize the organic renewal of historic districts, avoiding misconnection and fracture of the historical context.
