Abstract:Street micro-renewal from a human-oriented perspective relies on precise analysis of spatial characteristics and citizens’ needs, while traditional analysis methods have room for improvement in reliability and validity. In response to the urban design transformation in China, this study proposes a street micro-renewal technology framework based on new technologies. The framework integrates both big and small data. On the one hand, based on the objective perspective, the behavior and facilities in the street are evaluated based on location-based services (LBS) data, aerial imagery, and review data. On the other hand, based on the subjective perspective, the spatial perception of street users is measured through electrodermal activity (EDA), skin conductance (SC), electromyography (EMG), and eye-tracking data, thus achieving an integration of top-down analysis and evidence-based research to support precise design guidance. This study demonstrates the application of the proposed framework in Guzong Road, exploring a generalizable method for street micro-renewal practices.
