Abstract:The joint studio of the second year architectural design course at Southeast University focuses on building envelope as the exercise topic. Through the study of the envelope theory, it explores the urbanity, spatiality, representation and sustainability of envelope, reaffirms its autonomy and value order, and clarifies its significance as a basic architectural theme. The teaching program relates the theoretical knowledge with concrete exercise. Through the operational design method, it tries to establish a systemic awareness of envelope for students who could understand and practice its design principles of place meaning, intermediary role, representation of tectonics and sustainable development.
