Abstract:Railways and cities interact with each other, which promote the underground of railway tracks and stations in the urban core area. The underground railway station is a product of the demand for medium and short-distance intercity passenger transport and high-density development in large cities, and it attempts to solve the problems in the renewal of railway stations and urban core areas. This article summarizes the evolution characteristic of urban renewal in the three periods of Urban Three-dimensional Theory, Holistic Design on Urban Architecture and Compact City Theory, reviews the underground railway station’s three-stage modes and characteristics of Underground Rail in the early 20th century, Threedimensional Hub in the 1950s and Station and City Integration since the 1980s. It focuses on analyzing the objective and design strategy of the compact development and station-city integration of underground railway station and urban core area from the middle-level of capacity development, traffic connection and spatial ecology.
