Study on Characteristics of Learning Environment in University Campus on Promoting Innovative Ability: A Case Study of Campus Space Planning for Two Innovative Research Universities
Abstract:The cultivation of innovative talents is the focus of the competition among different countries and also the primary educational goal for universities. Based on the theories related to creativity and from the perspective of new educational models, this paper studies campus space planning of two representative innovative research universities in Mexico and Singapore. It explores the elements of the corresponding supportive learning environment in campus spatial planning, and based on the conceptual analysis framework of university campus space with the goal of cultivating innovative talents, summarizes the characteristics of the corresponding elements in the three levels of campus spatial planning: community, campus planning and architectural space design, with a view to guiding future empirical research in this field.
