Abstract：The foundation of the discipline construction of the people’s livable architecture is the production and evolution of folk residential architecture knowledge in the past century. With the differentiation of architecture knowledge content and the reorganization of the scientific knowledge structure of habitat environmental science, it is necessary to consider how the professional knowledge of folk residential architecture constitutes the knowledge framework system of the people’s livable architecture in the new era, and to carry out the knowledge production and innovation of architecture. The subjectivity of the academic system of the people’s livable architecture is the symbol of the development and maturity of the discipline. By sorting out the research context of domestic folk residential architecture, setting the locality of knowledge production as the basis, the characteristics of folk residential architecture are refined: first, the people’s nature of the subject of folk residential architecture; second, the endemicity of the knowledge source of folk residential architecture; third, the community of the subject of knowledge production of folk residential architecture. Based on the ontology in the“locality”situation, integrating the subjective awareness of cognition and practice at the philosophical level, this paper proposes the construction way of folk residential architecture subjectivity from the perspective of knowledge production. Through the discussion of the subjectivity of the people’s livable architecture based on local knowledge production, we attempt to construct China’s independent knowledge system of people’s livable architecture and explore the development way of architecture with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
