Abstract:The concept of Isovist originated in the 1960s and is an important tool for the prediction of the perception of architectural spaces and behaviour. This study applies Isovist analysis to the design of exhibition spaces, with the aim of quantifying the mechanisms of environmental information perceived visually and the wayfinding behaviour of visitors as they move along the visitor flow. Based on the existing visual field analysis indicators, a quantitative measurement method for overall space and route space is proposed. Through the case study on the Dalian Urban Planning Exhibition Centre, the spatial characteristics are explored using spatial metrics. The results of the measurement analysis proved to be instructive in space experience and post-occupancy evaluation studies of display spaces.
