Abstract：With the information retrieved from CNKI database and the strength of Python programming language, SPSS and CiteSpace analysis tools, this study performs a visualized analysis on the keywords of frequently cited periodicals published from 2000 to 2020. By adopting hierarchical clustering, internal structure and strategic coordinate positioning methods, it carried out a review and development trend analysis on the research hotspot framework of rural China in the recent 20 years. Last but not least, it highlights an urgent problem in rural area research under the new circumstances, aiming to provide fresh thinking for future research on rural areas.
