Abstract:By reviewing the relationship between the technological innovation of building materials and the evolution of building facade and its media nature, this paper analyzes its development process, formulates the corresponding design strategy based on a deeper understanding of the relationship between electro-optical media facade technology and building facade, and establishes the evaluation system. With the case of the night scene lighting design of Binhu Times Center, it then carries out a specific application analysis and comprehensive evaluation. The evaluation results show three strategies’ values in practical application, which are “to give full play to the transparency advantages of display electro-optical media facade’s light sources”, “to skillfully use the media image display characteristics of different electro-optical media light sources” and “to release the diversified information expression potential of electro-optical media”. These strategies also have positive significance for the improvement of urban space quality and connotation in the current information society.
