Abstract:Based on the sustainable development targets of carbon neutralization and zero waste, this paper proposes the methodology for the recycling potential calculation consisting coupling of Material Cycle Database and digital design tools through literature review and theoretical analysis. Through the case of Kajstaden residential building in Sweden, it establishes the BIM-Eco2soft-MS Excel workflow to obtain information on building materials and components, the resource consumption, the environmental impact within a 50-year service life, and the quantitative calculation of recycling potential. It further analyses the important role of architectural design decisions in realizing the negative carbon emissions and waste reduction, and provides a reference for material selection, component design and recycling potential optimization of mass timber buildings.
