Design with Lingnan Climate: Research on Four Generations of Passive Energy Saving Design Strategies in the Library of South China University of Technology
Abstract：Since 1936, the library of South China University of Technology has experienced the design and transformation of four generations of outstanding Lingnan architects. This paper compares the library’s previous design and transformation plans, analyzes the characteristics of the corresponding era, educational background and technical conditions of each generation of architects, and explores how they responded to the issue of passive energy saving design in
Lingnan through the study of design drawings. In view of the current development requirements of green buildings, the experience of the past generations in dealing with passive energy saving design will help us to consistently promote practices of sustainable green building.
